Alpine Trekking – From hut to hut through the most beautiful part of the Dolomites

Trek from hut to hut in the heart of Dolomiti Bellunesi.

Follow Dolomite Alta Via 1 from Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Cinque Torri along the imposing massifs of the Pelmo and the Civetta to Passo Duran.

Spend the nights in comfortable, spectacularly situated huts with excellent Italian food.

Admire the incomparable panoramic views of the glaciated Marmolada and the rocky bastion of the Sella as well as other mountainuous giants of the Dolomites.

Experience steep cliffs, deep gorges, lively mountain streams and beautiful deciduous and coniferous forests on easy-to-walk-on, panoramic high routes.

This tour can also be combined with the "Panoramic Trails in the Rosengarten" tour if you wish to spend a full week in the Dolomites.

1

"Cinque Torri"

Individual journey to our meeting point at the Cinque Torri lift at the foot of Falzarego Pass (2105 m) near Cortina d'Ampezzo, where we‘ll meet in the morning. We’ll take the lift to Rifugio Scoiatolli with its fantastic Dolomite panorama. The Cinque Torri right next to us, the steep cliffs of the Tofane behind us and the imposing Monte Civetta and Moiazza as well as the Monte Pelmo with its striking north face to our South – the panorama is breathtaking! The path first takes us down to the Cason di Formin and then up in switchback through beautiful forest to the fantastically located Rifugio Croda da Lago (2046 m).

Along Monte Pelmo to Rifugio Sonino al Coldai

A good high route will take us past Rifugio Città di Fiume (1918 m) and the impressive cliffs of Monte Pelmo to Passo Staulanza. We’ll have our lunch break there – great views included.
In the afternoon, we’ll gently ascend through meadows before the trail gets a little steeper closer to the spectacularly situated Rif Sonino al Coldai (2132 m), directly on the northern edge of the Monte Civetta massif.

Around mighty Monte Civetta

Today is probably the most beautiful stretch of our hut-to-hut trekking. A quick ascent will take us up to quiet Lago Coldai, lying in the shadows of the mighty Civetta north face. After an obligatory break for taking pictures, we‘ll follow the trail on the north-eastern side of the Civetta massif.
We’ll continue along the mighty Civetta to the beautifully situated Rifugio Tissi with stunning views of the steep faces of the Civetta above us and Lago Alleghe below us. A lookout point above the hut offers a unique bird's eye view down the valley below us – a true highlight of the trip!
In the afternoon, we‘ll circle around Civetta and reach Rifugio Vazoller (1714 m), idyllically situated in an old larch grove and boasting an impressive background of the majestic rocky towers of Torre Venezia and Torre Grande.

Around Cima Moiazza to Passo Duran

Circling Monte Moiazza, another climbing paradise in the Bellunese Dolomites, we’ll walk most of the morning in the shadows of its imposing cliffs and walls before reaching Rifugio Carestiato around noon. We’ll have our deserved lunch break here.
From here, it’s only a short walk to Passo Duran (1600 m), where our taxi is waiting to take us back to the starting point of the trekking tour. The ride will take less than an hour and we’ll arrive at Falzarego Pass in the afternoon.
