Trekking in the Dolomites – Panoramic Trails in the Rosengarten group

In the morning, meet at the Seiser Alm cable car in Seis am Schlern (Siusi allo Sciliar). There is free parking and a shuttle service from the surrounding boarding houses and hotel in Seis, Voels or Kastelruth. The cable car takes us up to Seiser Alm, where we’ll start walking.
The trail takes us across lush alpine meadows towards the Schlern, the western pillar of the Dolomites and with its wide face always in full view. Like impregnable fortresses, the rocky bastions of the Burgstall and the Santner rise before us.
We’ll be climbing up the Schlern on a good path affording great views and have lunch at the Schlern refuge.
A short detour to the Petz (2563 m) opens up an impressive panorama of the surrounding mountain world for us: Plattkofel, Langkofel, Sella, Catinaccio, in the far south, the rugged battlement-like peaks of the Pala dei San Martino. In the afternoon, we‘ll leisurely hike across the Schlern plateau to Tierser Alpl Hut (2440 m) in the northern part of the Catinaccio, all the while enjoying great panoramic views. The hut is our home for the night and after a relaxing evening, we’ll be looking forward to the next day.
